{"id":43949,"date":"2017-08-03T13:21:20","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T17:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.myewm.com\/?p=43949"},"modified":"2017-08-03T13:21:20","modified_gmt":"2017-08-03T17:21:20","slug":"back-to-school-sales-tax-holiday-starts-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.myewm.com\/?p=43949","title":{"rendered":"Back-to-school sales tax holiday starts Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting Friday, Aug. 4, Floridians won&#8217;t have to pay state sales tax on certain clothes ($60 max), school supplies, personal computers ($750 max) or other items.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Florida Retail Federation (FRF), this sales tax holiday is the state&#8217;s second busiest shopping &#8220;holiday.&#8221; It predicts &#8220;near record-breaking sales.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nationally, the average family is expected to spend $687.72 on apparel and accessories, shoes and school supplies, up eight percent from 2016, according to the National Retail Federation&#8217;s annual survey conducted by Prosper Insights and Analytics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Items shielded from a sales tax<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clothing, footwear and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item<\/li>\n<li>Certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item<\/li>\n<li>Personal computers and certain computer-related accessories selling for $750 or less per item if purchased for noncommercial home or personal use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Items not included in the sales tax holiday<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any item of clothing selling for more than $60<\/li>\n<li>Any school supply selling for more than $15<\/li>\n<li>Books that are not otherwise exempt<\/li>\n<li>Personal computers and computer-related accessories purchased for commercial purposes<\/li>\n<li>Rentals or leases of any eligible items<\/li>\n<li>Repairs or alterations of any eligible items<\/li>\n<li>Sales of any eligible items in theme parks, entertainment complexes, public lodging establishments or airports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Starting Friday, Aug. 4, Floridians won&#8217;t have to pay state sales tax on certain clothes ($60 max), school supplies, personal computers ($750 max) or other items.
