{"id":67676,"date":"2020-06-18T16:41:26","date_gmt":"2020-06-18T16:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.myewm.com\/?p=67676"},"modified":"2020-06-18T16:41:26","modified_gmt":"2020-06-18T16:41:26","slug":"fhfa-foreclosure-eviction-moratorium-extended-to-aug-31","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.myewm.com\/?p=67676","title":{"rendered":"FHFA Foreclosure-Eviction Moratorium Extended to Aug. 31"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"field field--name-field-summary field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field--item\">A homeowner with a Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac-backed mortgage cannot be foreclosed or evicted until Aug. 31 \u2013 a two-month extension from the existing June 30 deadline.<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field--item\">\n<p>WASHINGTON \u2013 The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the Enterprises) will\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/sites\/dfiles\/OCHCO\/documents\/2020-19hsngml.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">extend their single-family moratorium<\/a>\u00a0on foreclosures and evictions until at least Aug. 31, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>FHFA said it extended the deadline from June 30 to \u201chelp borrowers and renters who are at risk of losing their home due to the coronavirus national emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The foreclosure moratorium only applies to Enterprise-backed, single-family mortgages \u2013 but that includes about half of all U.S. owners who have a mortgage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring this national health emergency, no one should worry about losing their home,\u201d FHFA Director Mark Calabria said when making the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>FHFA says it will continue to monitor the coronavirus situation and update policies as needed, which suggests another foreclosure\/eviction extension is possible beyond Aug. 31 depending on the pandemic\u2019s direction.<\/p>\n<p>FHFA, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) created a combined website for housing information related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
