{"id":7025,"date":"2008-02-08T17:12:20","date_gmt":"2008-02-08T22:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.ewm.com\/2008\/02\/08\/here-we-go-again-a-sales-tax-on-services\/"},"modified":"2008-02-08T17:12:20","modified_gmt":"2008-02-08T22:12:20","slug":"here-we-go-again-a-sales-tax-on-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.myewm.com\/?p=7025","title":{"rendered":"Here we go again &#8211; A Sales Tax on Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every few years this issue raises it&#8217;s ugly head and it is back again.<\/p>\n<p> Please urge the Commissioners to vote NO on CP 002!<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Tax and Budget Reform Commission (TBRC) is holding a meeting next week and proposal CP 002 by Commissioner John McKay and others will be considered in the Finance and Taxation Committee and be voted on. <\/p>\n<p>Commissioner McKay continues to advocate for the taxing of services and repeal of sales tax exemptions in order to provide the state with more revenue and to &#8220;buy down&#8221; a portion of the school property taxes levied.  In effect, his proposed constitutional amendment would force the legislature to repeal over $8 billion in exemptions and exclusions in order to provide some property tax relief.<\/p>\n<p>This is a flawed proposal as the amendment would force the Legislature to raise taxes and cause an atmosphere of uncertainty on what is taxed in this delicate Florida economy.  Also, with a real estate services tax bringing in some $850 million to the state, there&#8217;s a real chance that Florida will begin taxing your services!<\/p>\n<p>Please send the following message to committee members today!
