{"id":70924,"date":"2022-05-24T09:13:05","date_gmt":"2022-05-24T13:13:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.myewm.com\/?p=70924"},"modified":"2022-05-24T09:13:05","modified_gmt":"2022-05-24T13:13:05","slug":"desantis-green-lights-hometown-heroes-housing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.myewm.com\/?p=70924","title":{"rendered":"DeSantis Green Lights Hometown Heroes Housing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"field field--name-field-summary field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field--item\">\n<h4>The $100M program, a top Florida Realtors priority, will provide zero-interest loans to be used toward down payment and closing costs \u2013 up to 5% of the loan or $25K.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field--item\">\n<p>TALLAHASSEE, Fla. \u2013 During a press conference in Southwest Florida on Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the launch of Florida Realtors\u00ae top 2022 legislative priority, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridahousing.org\/programs\/homebuyer-overview-page\/hometown-heroes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hometown Heroes Housing Program<\/a>\u00a0(HHHP).<\/p>\n<p>Administered by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC), HHHP would reduce the upfront costs for qualifying hometown heroes by providing zero-interest loans to help with down payment and closing costs, up to a limit of 5% of the first mortgage loan or $25,000.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Realtors worked closely with the Florida Legislature throughout the 2022 session to create HHHP. Funded at $100 million, the program is designed to help some of the state\u2019s most essential workers become homeowners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the pandemic and beyond, our hometown heroes \u2013 the nurses, EMTs, firefighters, law enforcement officers and educators \u2013 were the ones who kept us safe, cared for our loved ones, and taught our children,\u201d says 2022 Florida Realtors President Christina Pappas. \u201cUnfortunately, with skyrocketing home prices, they often can\u2019t afford to live in the communities where they work. The Hometown Heroes Housing Program is a great way to help address this issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program will be available to more than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridahousing.org\/docs\/default-source\/programs\/homebuyers\/hometown-heroes\/eligible-occupations.pdf?sfvrsn=e157f57b_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">50 occupations<\/a>, and is subject to certain\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridahousing.org\/docs\/default-source\/programs\/homebuyers\/hometown-heroes\/income-and-purchase-price-limits4c5f9ac2fb0d6fb69bf3ff00004a6e0f.pdf?sfvrsn=4852f57b_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">income and purchase price limits<\/a>\u00a0that vary by county.
