Inching Toward A Sale!

Ceilings are often given a starring role in ads submitted to the Marketing Muses. High ceilings, vaulted ceilings, cathedral ceilings, double height ceilings, soaring ceilings. Yes, they certainly do add to the appeal of what might otherwise be an ordinary residence. Every now and again, however, the ads are so over the top that it’s hard to believe the ceilings are quite as high as the Associate claims. Like the perfect Pinecrest family home featuring a spacious open floor plan with 6 bedrooms, 6.5 baths and 10″ ceilings. Can’t you just picture it? This tiny mom and dad with their itty bitty little kids and their teeny weeny little dog. Isn’t that the cutest thing ever?

Back before we had the EWM Ad System, the Muses did all the typing. Years of proofing my own work made me aware of areas in which I was most likely to make mistakes: spelling — that’s why I swear by spell check; numbers — property addresses and prices are taken care of for you by the Ad System, but bedroom and bath counts can still be problematic; and then there are the symbols for foot and inch. A slip of your fingers and the listing that was once ideal for a family of typical stature is suddenly fit only for Thumbelina and her buddies. Good for a laugh, but not for a sale.

Speaking of inches, I have a magnet on my refrigerator that reads, “Give a man an inch and he thinks he’s a ruler.” Definitely not referring to our evolved EWM men, just husbands and boyfriends.
