Lars–a close friend just emptied her parents home of fifty years of things–some was valuable, other things not. She used a company called One White Orchid http://www.whiteorchid.com
They spent about three days pricing and had a three day sale-owners had to be out of house for those times and owners removed what they wanted to keep, first. It was most successful.
