Kevin Tomlinson’s Blog Lesson: Do You Want More Traffic For Your Blog Posts?

DO YOU WANT TO RULE YOUR NICHE?

First before we start, a lingo lesson.

You do not write a blog, you author a blog and write individual posts. For example, you wouldn’t say: “I need to get off the phone because I have to write a blog or Kevin Tomlinson is going to write one about “Snapper Creek Real Estate” and take all of my business away.” You would say: “I need to get off the phone because I have to write a post, or blog post, or Kevin Tomlinson is going to write one about “Snapper Creek Real Estate” and take all of my business away.”

Now to the good stuff. Writing more effective blog posts WITH integrity and “keyword rich” content is the key to being ranked high in google. The more efficient your posts are written with regard to your title and content, the higher they will rank for keywords like “Ponce/Davis Real Estate for Sale.”

There are two things you need to focus on when writing blog posts:

1. The title of the post (must be keyword-rich). The best way to write your title is in “Title Case.” Here is an example of “title case”: “Kevin Tomlinson Voted Hottest Real Estate Agent.” Typically “small” words like and & the are not capped, BUT investigate/learn (on your own) by reading other GOOD blogger’s posts. Grammar, spelling and sentence structure are critical —ask Susie Friedman.

2. Having keyword-rich content.

The above post is quite possibly one of the best resources on how to get your posts recognized by the search engines. You HAVE to be a member of ActiveRain to view it. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, ActiveRain is, hands-down, the best resource for leaning ANYTHING to do with blogging.

Take responsibility for your own education. There are 80,000 people in ActiveRain taking responsibility for their own education. They are not whining about the market or “woe is me” stuff. They go in there spend time to read, learn and they are better agents for it. Any questions you may have about anything to do with blogging, you will find the answer is there.

Great info Kevin. The keyword-rich posts on Long Beach are great examples, especially with the keywords highlighted. Thanks for the link.

Hi Kevin, thanks for posting this. I’ve been on AR since last April and love it! I’ve learned a lot there and I’m continuing to learn more. Because of blogging on AR + learning there about SEO for my website, I’m on the 1st page of Yahoo and Google for a number of great local R.E. keywords and I’m working with several great Buyer leads because of it, etc. It’s a constant work in progress and I know it will only get better as time goes on.

Keep up the fabulous work and I’m looking forward to meeting you at Wednesday’s meeting

My vote, too! Kevin, I thought blog was a verb. “I think I’ll blog about that!” or perhaps a gerund –“Blogging is for lovers!” I guess you are too proper (Caroline’s influence, I bet!) Great post!

    Hey G!
    Thanks!

Yes I guess blog could be a verb. For example: “Call me back, I’m blogging!”

If you wrote for Vanity Fair…you wouldn’t say “I have to go write a magazine”…you’d say” “I have to write that article on Britney Spears.” Blog is the medium, articles, or blog posts, are what we write.
