MASS MAILINGS

There are currently over a thousand unread emails in my mail box. Just after the holidays Teresa Zohn cleaned her mailbox out and topped my puny number by another 6000. Junk, junk and more junk. No, I don’t have a buyer for a grassy knoll in Podunk Iowa and No, I am not interested in buying a steal of a deal on the West Coast of Florida. The frightening part is that these emails are predatory. Life lines are being offered to struggling individuals who wonder what they could be doing differently in this strained market. Poor economic times put us all at risk. At risk for being robbed, car jacked and of course scammed. Criminals have to eat too. Have your wits about you and remember there is no such thing as easy money and or a free lunch. If you are thinking of going to a seminar that offers salvation and there isn’t a religious affiliation run it by a senior agent or your managing broker. Over the years we’ve seen them all.

You mean those wonderful so formal letters where I have been bequeathed several gazzilion dollars by totally unknown people in exotic places are not true?!?!? And should I break the chain letters that promise my dearest wish will come through and/or win the lottery if I send it to the next 100 people? What about the mental calm that will come with the reading, recitation and naturally forwarding to another 100 people the sayings of some Tibetan monk?

Hi Laurie, we met at the awards ceremony! I agree with you totally, but as everything the best policy is to address the problem and be proactive about finding solutions. I took last Sunday afternoon to organize my Inbox and sort out all that accumulated mail that was taking time from the important emails that my clients send me! Some tips, find a spam filter that takes out all those unknown lottery winnings, helping out millionaires to get their money back and those dreaded online pharmacies, I used Box Trapper directly on my email server. Next, organize your email by folders, redirecting it to fall into different categorized folders (some folders I made: Eflyers, RAMB, Realtor news, EWM Mail, Personal mail)with this you can let mails that are less important (like the eflyers from realtors, which are a good source of info, but do not need to be read or responded to immediately!)to folders that you can get to later and dont take attention from the important ones. Last necessary step, usually advertising keeps on coming regularly, so identify the advertising emails which you can use and the others that you can’t just unsubscribe from them. It was a liberating experience, and since Sunday I finally have time to respond to someones blog, instead of weeding through the tangle of emails that we receive every day!
