Excited About Blogging but Site Needs To Be User Friendly

I am thrilled to have moved over to EWM in time to join the Blogfest! However, I find our site a little difficult to use.

  1. For one, what you see on the screen as you write is limited to too few lines at a time.
  2. Uploading images to our site is extremely time consuming/difficult…remember we want to sell real estate, not spend a ton of time uploading images to create a succesful blog.
  3. What you see is not what you get. I used number indenting and while they showed up on the screen, they did not show up on my end result.
  4. Lost in the blogosphere…If I push save, did I just send out my blog vs saving it for a later date? Maybe the save button should read “publish blog”.
  5. Could we have an on-site tutorial? While I attended 2 out of the 3 afternoon classes, including the one on uploading photos, I think it was too general to blogging and not specific enough to our site.
  6. How do I find blogs previously posted? I read one yesterday that addressed Avatar uploading (which would have been helpful today) but could not find it today no matter how many catagories I visited nor how many times I pressed the “previous” blog button.
  7. I think this whole blogging thing is a great idea, so please consider above comments suggestions and not complaints (I would insert a smiley face here, but don’t no how to, so will settle for 🙂 )

Jennifer- all of your answers are already here in the internal blog… but one more time for the record…
1 – you an make the write screen bigger by dragging the corner of the box and make it bigger. As for pictures – use pixer. us to make your photos smaller – the time involved is because the digital photos people are uploading are HUGE. The simple porcess of shrinking them before you upload them will save you tons of time.
2 – The numbers and the outline is an issue we are working on – it is erratic but will be fixed.
3 – For now – as you can tell, I am the only one who can publish. My goal is to allow everyone to publish – but I want to make sure everyone is up to speed before I cut them loose.
4 – The tutorials are coming – but already there are so many questions and answers on the internal site that almost every topic has been addressed.
5- Use the categories to find previous posts. The paging mechanism is not operating at this time – but the categories work very well.

Thanks for the questions and your blog posts are awesome – do add some pictures and you will be on the road to being “cut loose” as an EWM blogger.

Welcome Jennifer. I too am totally frustrated by the difficulty of placing a photo where I want it to appear in the blog. Why is this so difficult? Putting them in MLS and the ewm website is easy.

Once I uploaded the photo, I clicked on it and at the same time clicked on the tree, made border = 0 and aligned the photo either to the left or right. I would love it to wrap around the photo. Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not. I’m sure the tutorial will help us all. My photos are always too large and I will check out pixer.us.
