IT Update

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more Thought for the day:  May you live in interesting times.Interesting it has been.  I have been spending the last few days on the IT roller coaster.  As many of you have noticed by now, we have had some interesting days with our various websites. As of tonight, and for now,  most things seem to be up and running.  Here is a quick recap:

1.  What happened to the blog? The blog has been updated to the newest version of wordpress so that it will be more stable and secure.   It took quite a bit longer than expected, but with 10,000 posts – it is a big database.  You may notice that some of the posts in the last 2  weeks may seem to have disappeared… but they haven’t.  The guys at the Real Estate Tomato are working to put them all back up – so give it a few days.

2.  Realtors don’t die – they just get listless .  Remember that old joke?  Well we lost our listings this week and it caused quite a mess with the ewm.com website and with the ad system.  Through what can only be described as the amazing race through a labrynth, the listings have been found and the sites should be up to date.  The loss of the listings was actually a malfunction in our database which also blocked the addition of new associates to our internal sites.  This too should be fixed.

3.  What about our listing feeds? Some of you have noticed that our listing feeds to Trulia and Mayfair have not been updated – this too is being worked on and will be remedied shortly.

4.  Ads – yes, somehow all of the ads in the ad system got canceled in one fell swoop.  Please log into your ad orders and re-schedule them:  For each ad order you have, click on the New! Re-schedule! link and check the dates you would like for the ad to run.  No need to do for ads due this week, the marketing staff has already updated those for you (they will show up as already scheduled)- but please change all of your future ads.

5.  Patience is a virtue – and I am very grateful for the virtue of all of you who have waited so patiently for things to get back on line.   I understand that when things don’t work it causes a great amount of stress for everyone and it is a condition we strive to avoid.

6.  All the kings horses and all the kings men couldn’t put Humpty together again…not true.  Special thanks to our IT dept, marketing dept and everyone else who rallied to put things back on track.Stay tuned for some special announcements next week.  I am looking to do a quick Blog Blitz contest with some fun prizes.

Thank you Beth for working around the clock on this and still finding the time to respond to our whining messages. Good things come to those who wait.

Thanks Beth for a monumental effort! In spite of all the recent heat, humidity and rain, its never really Summer until a new EWM contest is announced.
