“There’s an app for that…” When it comes to real estate that is certainly true. Following are some quick tips for real estate use for the real estate agent.
We are going to start with a brief review of the basic iphone features. Although this section may seem too basic for many users – sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. So let’s start with the Home Screen

Most of the applications of the Home Screen can be found on all iPhones. Note: I added the google app to my front page.
All of the basic functions are found here. The calendar, mail and contacts can now not only be synced with Apple computer products, but can now be synced with Google mail and Microsoft Exchange Server.

From the home screen if you swipe from left to right this Spotlight search will appear. Simply put, spotlight will find absolutely anything in your iPhone that meets the search criteria.
I think the Voice Recorder is of great value for real estate agents. When you spend so much time in the car it is super easy to record a message and email it to yourself or someone else without risking life or limb.
Press the red button to start and stop. Then tap the button on the bottom right hand corner.
Your recording will appear and the share button will provide a pop up choice to send the message by email or text message. Both choices are attached to the contacts for easy reference.
Another great car tip for those 3GS iPhone owners is Voice Control. Press the home button (that big round button on the bottom panel of the phone) until you see the Voice Control screen. You can speak some useful commands like CALL 305-555-5555 or CALL Home (for anything that is in your contacts). You can also control the iPod with commands like Play Favorite Playlist – where Favorite is any defined playlist that is in the iPod portion of the phone.
Haven’t figured out how to move those icons around? Just press on any app icon until the “x” appears and the icons start shaking in place. You are now free to move them around on the screen and to a new or different screen. If you tap the X you will delete the app form the phone. Note: The system icons will not move an cannot be deleted.
MLS on the iPhone – Absolutely. First you will need to register as a mobile user.
Click here to register. Once you are registered just open up Safari on your iPhone and go to the site
http://sef.mlxwireless.com/. Enter your public and private ID and off you go.
You might want to add an icon to your front page so that you don’t have to type in the web address all the time – so here is how you make an icon by web bookmarking.
Go to any web page that you want to make an icon for. One the site is rendered tap the + plus button and a pop up menu will appear. Select Add to home screen and your icon is born.
The last “non app” feature I want to go over is the Maps for iphone. The map widget is not quite as good as a navigational system, but it is pretty close. For real estate agents I would suggest entering your listing addresses so that you can find them from wherever you are, whenever you want and it also allows you to email or text the directions to a client or cooperating agent for showings.
While you are there check out the other great iphone videos listed on the left hand side bar.
Next post – my recommended apps.
