Facebook divides business and personal info

 Facebook, which has 500 million users, now offers business pages that allow practitioners to keep their personal and professional lives separate.

When you set up a Facebook business page, remember that the name of the page is important because Facebook is beginning to function more like a search engine, says Derek Overbey of real estate search company Roost Inc.

Overbey warns against naming the page “Your Name” followed by “Real Estate.” He points to an associate from Vancouver who had named his page that way and only got 25 click-throughs in nearly a year. When he renamed it “365 things to do in Vancouver,” he got 2,400 click-throughs to his blog in a month.

Dawn Thomas, an associate at Intero Real Estate Services in Los Altos, Calif., advises against being too formal on business Facebook pages. Post content that keeps people coming back, she says.
