Can You Recommend a Roofer?

I have to replace the roof on my home prior to the start of the rainy season.  I was hoping someone might have a good roofer that they are familiar with and could recommend.

Because my home has a historic designation, I am obliged to replace the roof with a like-kind, barrel tile and the one estimate I already received felt like highway robbery!

This style of “Spanish-S” roof tile is most common in South Florida but can not be used for my new roof.

This is the barrel tile that I am allowed to install on my roof.  It does not have to be “hand-made” like the roof I am replacing, however it does have to be installed using a valley tile topped by a crown tile.

I understand the cost is relative to the amount of tile and the additional labor involved in the installation.   While I do want a roof that will last for the rest of my lifetime (the last one did not last as long as it should have, but that’s another story altogether),  I don’t want to have to spend the proverbial “Arm and a Leg” on my new roof!

Any suggestions or recommendations that you could pass along will be greatly appreciated.

    Customers of mine in the Grove have used both A. (Andrew) Palmer Roofing as well as Istueta (Frank) Roofing and have been very pleased with both companies.

    Rex,
    I have used Victoria Roofing many times…you can call the owner Rafael Ubeda 786 290-0429. I don’t recommend anyone in construction, because they are only as good as their last project. But I have worked with Rafael on several projects and he has been responsive and given me good work at a fair price. Good luck.

    Rex, I used Ward Roofing to replace the roof on my house in 2011. I’ve recommended them many times to various people over the years and so far no comments. They’ve been in business for over 30 years.

    Brenda Martinez and my listing at 1403 Alhambra, a home built in 1926, was recently sold. Extensive work was required on the house including a new roof over the detached garage. The company that the Buyer used was 3D Environmental Industries, Inc. The owner of the company is Dan Fierimonte, 954-931-3703. I was impressed with the roof work, which had to match perfectly with the roof tile on the house and it passed inspection without any problem. That is always an accomplishment in Coral Gables!     Garlin, Thanks very much for the recommendation. I started by taking roof tile samples to the Donna Spain at the Historic Preservation Department. I knew she would have the final word on what went on my roof anyway! I will give Dan a call and see what he can do here.
