Leveraging Technology in Real Estate

Whether it be mobile tools, social media, or the expanding role technology in the real estate transaction, agents and brokers have been at the cusp of emerging technologies over the past decade.

Back in 2003, the use of blogs, social media, and professional networking sites was virtually nonexistent. But just 10 years later, 64 percent of REALTORS® report having a personal Web site for their real estate business, 12 percent say they have a blog, and 56 percent say they use social media, according to NAR’s 2013 Member Profile.

Technology has transformed the way REALTORS® do business, but in real estate, high tech doesn’t come at the expense of high touch,” said NAR President Gary Thomas, broker-owner of Evergreen Realty, in Villa Park, Calif. “Despite advances in cell phones, e-mail and Internet capabilities, real estate is still grounded in relationships.
