She works hard for the money…

And so does he. In fact, you all do.

money.JPGI don’t really understand the notion of controversy over the commission that real estate agents earn. From where I sit as Office Manager, hearing your trials and tribulations, day in and day out, I for one…

… can say you HAVE EARNED IT.

For You work long hours, late nights & weekends. Your cell phone is never off. You are in and out of the heat all day long. You are selling yourself, hanging it all out there on the line, working for that listing. You are running reports, and creating presentations. You are marketing and spending your money. You are cold calling absolute strangers, which in itself is not easiest thing in the world to do. You are being hung up on, doors slammed on. But you keep going. You are professional and yet you are forced to deal with irresponsible counterparts, who don’t show up on time, neglect to call to say “that they are running late” and in instances, don’t even show up. You negotiate, you juggle, and you manage deadlines.

You follow up and follow up and follow up.

You-make it happen come hell or high-water and when it is all over, well it is never really over is it? You stay in touch.

Not to mention on occasion YOU: make a bed, blow the leaves, clean the toilet, walk the dog, move the furniture, change the locks, touch up the paint and all that other fun stuff.

Yes, YOU work hard for your money.

Lets not forget the transactions we worked and never got paid for. Nice post Caroline!

That’s why EWM agents have such a great reputation. They end up doing both sides of the transaction many times, knowing if they don’t, it probably won’t close!

I think you have done this job before. I have not cleaned toilets, but I have, in a multi million $ home: made beds, hung up bathrobes and figured out what to do with panties.

Wow, thanks for reminding me of all the little things we do that go unmentioned. Once I had to plunge a toilet for a seller, before I showed his house, because he left for work and didn’t have time to do the dirty work.

JoAnn: I hear that one all the time…
