A couple of weeks ago I signed up for my first half marathon. I will be running the ING Miami Half Marathon on January 27th. I signed up to train with Team Footworks in South Miami. For all of you wondering . . . a half marathon is 13.1 miles. This is about 8 miles more than I have ever run. The program is 17 weeks long and consists of at least 3 runs a week with Footworks. Monday and Thursdays the runs begin at the Footworks store at 6:30 PM, and Saturday mornings at 6:30 AM at South Miami Hospital.
Last Monday was my first run and I wore a bright pink Junior League T-shirt and thought nothing of it. I ran my 3.8 miles and was pretty proud of myself when I didn’t collapse or pass out along the way. As the week progressed, people asked if I had been running in South Miami in a hot pink t-shirt? I realized that instead of hot pink maybe I should start wearing a bright red EWM shirt. You never know what kind of buzz one red t-shirt might make. Maybe just a little, but in today’s market every little bit of cheerleading matters. I just might be running with your next client who had to inquire about our services when they were up and running 10 miles with me at 6:30 AM. Keep you eyes out for a Red EWM shirt campaigning/running through South Miami for the next 17 weeks.
