How to quickly find hyperlocal content for Facebook

Jan. 23, 2017 – Agents who can become the go-to source for local information attract more viewers to their website, and it’s not difficult to compile local info using the right apps and tools.

Once agents become familiar with the apps and a few email alerts, they can quickly get a feel for their primary sources of news, and it won’t take long each day to scan them for information worth posting.

Useful content sources include:

  • Twitter. They should specifically look for feeds from within the community such as the local Business Journal publication, Chamber of Commerce, high school sports and theater groups, their local sheriff or police department, and business writers or the business section from their local newspaper.
  • Google Alerts. Set up alerts to generate content related to key terms, such as city name, neighborhood name, local housing developments and specific types of housing within the geographic area.
  • Other sources. These include Feedly, which offers an efficient way to follow local blogs or websites, including the local Patch site, local food writers, city lifestyle magazines and small community newspapers. Nextdoor features private groups for specific neighborhoods where members can access hyperlocal content.

After setting up content sources, agents must get in the habit of checking them on a scheduled basis to keep on top of the latest news.
