Now raise your hand if you contribute to it on an annual basis. RPAC stands for the Realtors Political Action Committee and the funds it receives from Realtors go toward lobbying for legislation that supports our industry, protects our interests and private property rights, and against legislation that can damage our livelihoods or have a negative effect on home-ownership and private property rights. The majority of the funds stay in Florida, but a portion also goes to the National Association of Realtors to lobby congress.
Whether you specialize in residential or commercial real estate, you owe it to yourself to contribute to this committee. The Florida Association of Realtors legislative team, including John Sebree, Vice President of Public Policy, and Trey Goldman, Legislative Council, work tirelessly all year on legislative issues so we can concentrate on what we do best, selling real estate. RPAC allows us to not have to be involved in the details of the politics but still have a loud, strong voice.
So when you send in your Realtor Association dues to RAMDC or RAMB, make sure to include an RPAC contribution. To keep up to date on legislative news, including the latest on what is happening with property tax reform, visit The Legislative Center at FAR.
