Every few years this issue raises it’s ugly head and it is back again.
Please urge the Commissioners to vote NO on CP 002!
The Florida Tax and Budget Reform Commission (TBRC) is holding a meeting next week and proposal CP 002 by Commissioner John McKay and others will be considered in the Finance and Taxation Committee and be voted on.
Commissioner McKay continues to advocate for the taxing of services and repeal of sales tax exemptions in order to provide the state with more revenue and to “buy down” a portion of the school property taxes levied. In effect, his proposed constitutional amendment would force the legislature to repeal over $8 billion in exemptions and exclusions in order to provide some property tax relief.
This is a flawed proposal as the amendment would force the Legislature to raise taxes and cause an atmosphere of uncertainty on what is taxed in this delicate Florida economy. Also, with a real estate services tax bringing in some $850 million to the state, there’s a real chance that Florida will begin taxing your services!
Please send the following message to committee members today! If you happen to personally know these commissioners, please feel free to call them with this message as well.
