A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the MLS Change

As you all may know, EWM has been experiencing some “challenges” with our computer systems in last last month or so.  Yesterday, the light bulb went on as to what may be a significant contributor to the problem… Associates have recently changed their MLS Board affiliation.

Many of the agents in our Aventura, Coral Gables and Pinecrest office have switched from one Realtor Association to another, changing thier MLS access at the same time.  Since each Association has a letter at the beginning of the MLS number which identifies which the Association source (M for Miami and the Beaches, D for Miami Dade, F for RAGFL, etc.), the MLS number for every listing that the transferring Associate has  changed.

Many of our systems are built on MLS number since it is a unique identifier for each listing.  When hundreds of listings changed, the system was no longer able to find the listings because the MLS number had changed.  So things like ads and pictures in ewmrealtors.com that were identified by MLS number suddenly found themselves attached to nothing.

So what should you do?  First, check the MLS and make sure all of your listings transferred over to your new Association.  Check that first letter to make sure it is with the right Association.  Second, go into ewmrealtors and check your photo upload and your ads to make sure they are all there. (Remember to upload at least 8 good pictures and select one as the main photo) If you don’t remember what ads you had, check your emails as the system should send you a confirmation email each time you placed an ad.  If you don’t have your emails, please send me an email with the property address and the publication and I will check our logs for you.

Thanks for your patience and please try to get in the system to check out your stuff in the next couple of days.
