90 Day Challenge- Day 20 – Your Browser: Internet Explorer 7 – MLXchange’s Browser Of Choice

From time to time, I come across agents who are having problems with some of the features of MLXchange on their particular computer. They know the issue does not lie with their login because they can access all the features from the office computers. It might be your browser.  Remember: AOL and MLX is a bad marriage.  It will wreck your files.  If you are accessing MLX through your AOL browser, heaven help you.

You have access to online MLX tech support.  It is best to do an online chat which is quick and easy. Click on Help (Arrow #1) and the MarketLinx Help screen appears.  In the box with the female’s picture (Arrow #2), click on the link that says “CLICK HERE.” You will be taken to a chat window immediately.

Below is my conversation with Kim regarding browsers that are supported by MLXchange and a short conversation about the Mac.

Please wait for a site operator to respond. You are now chatting with ‘Kim’
Kim: Welcome to MLXHelp Live Chat Support! How can I help you?
Karen Ross: I am about to write an informational blog post about browsers that work successfully with MLXchange. I know Explorer 7 works. What are the others? What doesn’t work? Help me help you.
Kim: we only support the MLXchange in Internet explorer version 6 sp 2 (Service Pack 2) or higher.  It is recommended that they use IE 7 (Internet Explorer 7).
Karen Ross: You’ve been great. That’s what I needed. What happens if someone uses Firefox or Wyldfire or Google Chrome or Flock?
Kim: We don’t support it here.  Some of the features might work, some will not.
Karen Ross: Ok. Have you had any “screaming” calls from someone who downloaded Beta Explorer 8??
Kim: Not screaming, had a few that didn’t even know they had downloaded it.
Kim: On all the Message of the Days for the sites, we put up a notice that we don’t support running in IE 8 (Internet Explorer 8) beta, but since beta software is still in testing, we don’t support any betas.
Karen Ross: Understood. How’s the Mac issue? Any screaming there?
Kim: Mac users have to have either dual boot or a pc emulator and then every thing works just dandy.
Karen Ross: Thank you so much. I believe I’ll publish our conversation inside the blog post if you don’t mind. It is an internal post for our company only.
Kim: Is there anything else that I can help you with today?
Karen Ross: No, you’ve been awesome. Thank you.
Kim: Thank you for using MLXHelp Chat.  If you have any other questions feel free to stop by again.  Have a nice day. Good-bye.
Karen Ross: Good-bye.

Explorer 7 has been a real time saver – especially while posting to my blog.  In prior posts where I discussed your post and links, the tabs in Explorer 7 make it so incredibly easy to:

  • Tab over to perform google searches to discover relevant sites,
  • Tab over to access various websites and
  • Bounce in and out and back and forth from tabs to your blog editor window and back once you’ve (right-clicked) copied the URL of a particular website to link within your post.

If you do not have Explorer 7, below are links to explore.  You may or may not have to check your security settings in TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, SECURITY to allow the download.  You can request the MLX Techies to assist you with that task if you run into a snag!  In the past, they’ve help me with a GoDaddy.com issue!

Quick links with information (with the DOWNLOAD button) are as follows:

Download Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP

Cumulative Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Vista

Please read and make sure your hardware complies with the minimum requirements before dowloading any software. Do not download Internet Explorer 8 (beta) until it comes out of BETA and MLX gives us the thumbs up which will be published in a Message of the Day.

I have met the Techies at MLX.  They operate out of Coconut Creek, Florida, and service all their accounts throughout the United States and Canada from that location.

Their phone numbers are:954.492.1200 in Broward; and outside Broward 888.825.5472.  The 888  number does not work within Broward County. Remember to ask for help!

I am very curious to know what “dual boot or a pc emulator” for us MAC users. I use VM Fusion and it is SLOW….to say the least. She makes it sound so easy vs. the headache it really is.

But there is no giving up my MAC. MLX should just get with the program and change its interface all together- it might as well be DOS (a sign of the times)…..
