90 Day Challenge – Day 40 – Tools You Can Use – Single Property Websites

As our marketing efforts move more towards internet based tools it is time we look at the Single Property Website.  Basically, a single property website is exactly what it sounds like – a website devoted to one listing.  Think of it as an online property brochure that the search engines love.  Check out this nice single property site from Carole Smith…

Pretty cool, huh?  It is just as it says – an entire website for that one property.  Carole, very cleverly I might add, has taken the additional step of registering a domain with the property address.  See the link?  It is the propertyaddress.com.  See what happens when you google the property address?

It’s easy to see why Carole continues to be a top producer, here’s what you need to do to make your very own single property websites…

Although there are many single property websites popping up, I like Power Sites.  The interface is easy to use and the SEO built into every site is amazing.  Power sites also has great webinar training just in case you are feeling a little technologically challenged.

Now, for that extra punch, you need to learn to register a domain name.  This is a little more complicated- but you should be able to do it by now since you are so accomplished from doing the 90 Day Challenge ;).  As luck would have it, I was able to find this how to video which is fairly easy to follow.

It seems to me that the single property website and the domain name registration should be part of your marketing plan on every listing.  What happens once the listing sells?

Power Sites suggests that once the property sells you switch the site to a just sold site – good idea.  As for the address domain name – you can offer that to the buyer at closing or better yet, keep the domain name and offer to put up a site about the house while they live there.  Talk about a great way to keep in touch with a client! Host a website where they can upload photos – make it easy.  Open a Flickr or Picasa account for them and show them how to upload – just point the domain name to the Flickr page instead of the Power Site.  Every time they upload a picture they will remember you.  For those of you feeling a bit more adventurous – use Google Sites or any other simple website builder to build a free website.  Make sure you allow for the new owner to update the site with photos and news.  I am thinking down the road you will certainly get a call or email to list that house when it is time to sell.

Here is a quick video overview of Google Sites.

Homework – Make those listing sites.  Send me an email announcing your new single property website.  Your sellers will think you are a genius.  We are going to fake it ’til we make it with the 90 Day Challenge!

Great listing too1 and affordable. Registering for a domain name is simple through GoDaddy. I’ve done for it for the State Commercial Committee and other sites I helped create through the years.
