90 Day Challenge – Day 44 – Tools You Can Use – MAX: Your Profile

Today is Inauguration Day.  Since Obama is already known as the First Internet President – this is a big day for technology as well.  Today  is a day of many historical firsts – for technology it will be the first time live television is streamed over a cell phone network.  Yes, believe it or not you can watch the Inauguration from your iPhone.  Here is a line up of all of the different places you can follow today’s activities besides sitting in front of your TV.

I watched a fascinating segment on the Today show yesterday (sorry no internet video to be found) about how Obama used technology to win the Presidency.  (read more about that here.) The focus was on what will be different with technology now that we have an internet generation President.  The Saturday fireside radio chats will be on YouTube – but then we could have figured that, it just makes sense. What interested me the most was when they started talking about the media and the President.  During the campaign Obama collected over 13.5 million email addresses from internet sites, Facebook, My Space, etc. which he has now transformed into his database.  No longer dependent on a press conference or mainstream media, Obama can share his news with one email and reach 13.5 million people without someone changing one word or asking one question all within 30 seconds or so.  Amazing!

Back to real estate – your database may seem meager compared to the President’s – but it is more important than ever.  Here is an intro piece from Karen about getting your profile ready for prime time on Max Marketing.

What is your profile in MAX? Your contact information, your photo, your company logo and your bulk stamp image (optional) that will appear on every marketing piece and e-mail that you send out from MAX.

Click on the My Profile button on the left of the screen.

Carefully fill in your contact information:

  • Name
  • Company Office Address, city, State Zip
  • E-Mail
  • Company (Name and Branch)
  • Phone 1 (Enter your cell phone)
  • Phone 2 (Enter either your direct line or office phone and extension)
  • Website
  • Your Personal Images (you can upload more than one image of yourself)
  • Company Logo (you can toggle among the logos)
  • Bulk Stamp (optional)

The company logos available to you are:

  • EWM Commercial
  • EWM Development
  • EWM Insurance
  • EWM Intl
  • EWM Logo
  • EWM Master
  • EWM Real Estate
  • EWM Relocation
  • EWM Title
  • EWM Transparent Master
  • FDIC Logo
  • Home Services
  • Home Services (Transparent Bottom)
  • Leading Logo
  • Luxury Portfolio Black
  • Luxury Portfolio White
  • MBF Logo (you must be a member of the Master Brokers Forum)
  • Realtor Logo Small

It is very important that your profile in Max be correct from the start. If you phone number was entered incorrectly, it will be incorrect on every piece that goes out.  Double, double check your information before saving your profile.  It is easy to change; however, get it right from the get-go.

After you click on My Profile on the left of the screen, this will bring up the “My Profile” screen. Enter your contact information, phone numbers, email address and website as you want them to appear on your marketing pieces.

Upload Your Photo:  As stated above, you can have several photographs saved in the system, and you can set the picture that will appear on your marketing pieces by clicking the button under the picture frame. This is a great idea for targeting marketing.  For instance, if you are marketing to your yachting club, use the picture of you “on the boat.”

To upload your own picture, click the button instead of choosing an image that is already uploaded. This will bring up the box to the right. Type in a title to help you to remember this image in the future. Click on the browse button to select a file from your computer. This brings up the “Choose File” pop-up. Navigate to your picture on your system. In this example the picture was previously saved in the “My Pictures” folder on the C: drive. Select (click on) the picture file and click Open.

Once you upload your photos, a new box will appear with a list of images that are available for you to select. Click the “radio” button next to the image of your choice, then click the button. This will set your profile image. The picture you select in your profile will appear on all your marketing pieces, emailed or printed, until you select a different default picture. Once you have uploaded an image, it is automatically added to your list of available images the next time you want to set an image.

If you later decide you no longer need this image, you may click the red “x” next to the image name to delete this from your account. Images with gray buttons next to them cannot be deleted as these are the default images that were loaded into your account when you signed up.

Upload Your Bulk Stamp (If you do not use mailing services):  The United States Postal Service offers bulk mail service for businesses who require high volume mailing. One of the options to indicate postage payment is to use a “Permit Imprint” more commonly referred to as a “Bulk Stamp”. If you have applied for and obtained a Permit Imprint from the USPS, you may upload it to your profile to be included on all of your Marketing Materials that are mail ready (for instance, Postcards.) However, FIRST CLASS is recommended for timeliness in delivery of all mailing pieces.

To upload your own bulk stamp, click the button underneath the bulk stamp sample. This will bring up the box to the right. Click the browse button to find the proper file to upload, the same way you did to upload your agent photo. Once you have selected the correct file, click the button.

Once you have uploaded a bulk stamp to your account, it will appear in your list of images that appears when you click the button. If you wish to delete your bulk stamp you may click on the red “X” next to the words “Bulk Stamp”. If you have a new bulk stamp that you wish to upload, you may simply upload the new stamp and it will replace your old stamp.

When you have entered all your contact information and selected a default picture, click at the bottom of the window the button named SAVE PROFILE. You are now ready to create a marketing piece!
