I did not vote for Obama but I have watched his campaign and admired how technology shaped the outcome of the race and how he used these tools to affect change and gather votes. I last wrote about the inauguration and how the new media channels were to be used. Knowing all of this- I was still surprised with some new tricks ….
CNN and Facebook covered the Day’s Events live – it was something to see. Thousands of Facebook users contributed over 200,000 streaming comments which were posted to the side of the video throughout the speech. What an amazing view into television of the future and a powerful way to watch history unfold. Who would have thought, even just 1 year ago, that a major news outlet would forgo an anchor and let thousands of regular people provide commentary?
Whitehouse.gov – Yes, beleive it or not the White House has a website – not groundbreaking at all. The stunning part was that at precisely 12:01 pm the site switched to reflect it’s new inhabitants and front and center on the site is The White House BLOG. Here is the first post entitled Change has Come to the White House.
I think it is safe to say that this technology is here to stay and if the government has adapted it before you have, you may want to jump on board. It’s a great time to let these tools change your business. But then again, that’s why we have the 90 Day Challenge. Thanks for reading.
