PUNCTUATIONISAWONDERFULTHING

Everybody in Marketing suggests you actually use commas, colons and, yes, sometimes even periods in your ad copy. And here’s why…. This is a quiz. Read this snippet of an actual ad and then I’m going to ask you a simple question. 2 bedroom 2 bath, 1530sf large balcony on the Ocean. Okay — now go ahead and tell me what in this apartment is 1530 square feet. When I prepared the ad for the Sunpost I assumed it was the apartment itself and not a super gigantic balcony, so I inserted a comma after 1530sf. Please don’t make the Marketing Muses guess what you really mean to convey in your ads. Use punctuation to make your copy clear and precise. That’s all I have to say. Period.

Great advice! Your job isn’t easy, but good way to help the associates write better ads. Thanks,

I feel sorry for you. Now especially with blogging these agents must take time to write and punctuate correctly.

I would send those ads back to them.

Thank you Susie, for keeping our ads interesting, informative, succint and accurate. Now, where is your pretty picture?

I love your headline! My favorite is still: “New Roof. Won’t Last!” meaning, of course, the listing, not the roof. Sometimes, even with punctuation, placement can affect the meaning.

Yikes – English class memories. Hopefully, we’ll learn a thing or two from reading your posts. Thanks for grading our papers.
