Knowing that we are a font of resources, I’m asking for some help.

a) a good wood floor refinisher, the ones I have are no longer in business.

b) where to get old tile replacements 1950s

I am not sure what kind of tile you are actually looking for but if it is the standard pastel colors of the 1950s, I would try Dal Tile. I believe they still have a large showroom in Doral. Dal Tile has the largest array of different colors, sizes & textures. They are a national company & sell tiles for most food chains, like McDonalds, etc. Best of all Dal Tile has decent prices & quality materials.

I highly recommend Out of the Woods in Coral Gables for refinishing and/or replacing wooden floors. They did a wonderful job for me and are delightful to work with. Good luck!

A great source for old tile is A & C Tile at 201 NW 40th Street near the design district. No bells or whistles, just tons of 50-ish tile. If you make-nice with the old guy in the back he’ll let you meander around the dusty stacks of old tiles, bullnose, in-wall soapdishes, etc etc. Be prepared to get dirty and you’ll probably score what you’re looking for!
