Necessity is the mother of invention…

InventionIsn’t’ that the truth? Doesn’t the need for something create the drive to make it happen? I find that to be the case in my life-I find that to be the case in our market place today- Long gone are the yester-years of our market, that by default one could make a good living. Today on the contrary, one has to actually hustle to make a buck. (Not that that is a bad thing to actually earn your commission) It is just that it was easy for a couple of years and many new agents, found there way into the business with little or no training and knowledge and were let loose on the streets, and made money just by default. Today it is a different picture. Today those agents mostly are long gone, except a few who are learning and honing in on skills to make it in the market we find ourselves in today, and even the experienced ones are finding themselves going back a bit to the basics and re-inventing themselves and their plans to reflect the current market today. This is all good. Re-invention is necessary in order to survive and in order to succeed. That reminds me of a fable by Aesop; The Crow and the Pitcher: CrowThere was a crow dying of thirst, when he came upon a pitcher of water. The pitcher was tall and narrow and at the bottom there was a small amount of water. It was impossible for the crow to reach the water. He needed the water in order to stay alive, so he came up with the idea of dropping stones into the pitcher to raise the level of the water.pitcherOne by one, by one, by one, exhausted he dropped the stones in, until finally the water was high enough that he could reach his beak in to drink and thus, save his life. Maybe this fable is a bit dramatic to compare to the re-invention of agents working this particular market, but the underlying message is true, Necessity is the mother of invention…………..
